Rio de Janeiro
I grew up and lived in Rio de Janeiro for many years, and one of my greatest pleasures between 2013-2014 was riding my bike and exploring the city in search of photographic subjects. Sometimes, I would leave early in the morning and photograph until nightfall.

The sunny afternoons near the beach allowed me to capture incredible photos of the vibrant essence of life as a ‘carioca’ by the coast. I moved slowly like the waves breaking at Arpoador beach, transitioning from one place to another looking for interesting people and scenes to shoot, with my feet on the pedals of my rusty bike and music in my ears.
I like to think of my style as minimalist, as that is the aesthetic I seek in (almost) every shot. I strive to balance the main subject with an element of space that delivers lightness and invites contemplation. At that time, I was in a period of shooting monstly in black and white, although my desire to explore different styles varies with the moment.
